- Regular Dividend is a dividend rate established by a Company that is typically paid on a recurring frequency, such as quarterly, semiannually, annually and monthly.
- Extra Dividend is a dividend payment that is in addition to the company’s regular dividend cycle, but is still generated from the Company’s recurring revenues. Given their origin from recurring revenues, extra dividends are included in backward looking (TTM) annualized dividend calculations.
- Special Dividend is a dividend payment that the company declares to be separate from the typical regular and recurring dividend cycle, and is not generated from the Company’s recurring revenues. By identifying a distribution as a special dividend, the company is signaling that this is a one time payment, which is therefore not used in annualized dividend calculations.
