Marina Stroud: Hi, everyone, and welcome.

I’m Marina Stroud, your Senior Product Education Specialist.

Thank you so much for joining us today and allowing us to be a part of your educational journey.

I want to extend a special welcome to both new and returning TradeSmith members. Today’s session is one of our exclusive Inside TradeSmith training webinars, designed to give you some practical insights and hands-on guidance that you won’t really find anywhere else.

So, to further support your investment journey, our education team has partnered with Senior Analyst Mike Burnick to bring you a quarterly Inside TradeSmith presentation.

This series delivers expert commentary, actionable strategies, and timing perspectives on the latest investing tools from TradeSmith. In these webinars, we’ll take the ideas and strategies from Inside TradeSmith articles and bring them to life.

We’ll have live demonstrations, and you’ll learn how to apply these tools in real time. And the best part is we get to pick Mike’s brain at the end for a live Q&A!

Mike Burnick: Whatever’s left of my brain, that’s left over for you all.

Marina: There you go. All right, so let’s check out today’s topics.

Today we take a deep dive into TradeSmith’s Billionaires Club, including new screener tools to help you find the best results at your fingertips.

So, you’ll learn what the Billionaires Club is and how to use it, why you should keep a watch for what stocks they are buying, and how to quickly find new opportunities using our TradeSmith Screener with the all-new Billionaires filters.

And in the script that I’ll be sending you out tomorrow, I’ll include the referenced Inside TradeSmith article.

And, uh, before we dive in, we just have a quick note: The information we are sharing today is for educational purposes only.

We’re not financial advisors, so while we love talking about markets and tools, we can’t provide personalized advice or tell you what to buy, sell, or hold. So please just think of us as your friendly TradeSmith tour guides.

Mike: I like your tour guide artwork. It’s getting better and better with every webinar we do together.

Marina: Also, folks, there’s no need to scribble notes at lightning speed.

We are recording today’s presentation, so if you miss something or you just want to relive the magic, you’ll be able to watch and replay at your convenience.

So, Mike, what is the Billionaires Club – and what insights can our members get from this data?

Mike: Well, yes, we’ll definitely jump into that, and I have to say, I do love your cartoon image. I’d like to get a print copy of this, a print copy I can hang on my wall. But you need to autograph it, you and Kristen both!

Marina: Sounds good.

Mike: I have to say though, I think I look a little like Captain Kangaroo… I guess that’s how AI sees me, as Captain Kangaroo? I don’t know how to feel about that.

Marina: That’s hilarious!

You know, Mike, before you go on, I’m gonna just go directly to the site. Since I don’t have a slide for what the TradeSmith Billionaires Club is.

So, while you’re talking, I’ll just jump to the site.

Mike: That sounds good.

So, yes, Marina, the Billionaires Club is, of course, our exclusive analysis on about 40 of the world’s richest, wealthiest investors – and actually some of the most successful investors: Folks like Warren Buffett, Ray Dalio, and some of the other cartoon characters you saw a moment ago that have really built their fortunes through shrewd investing over the years.

So, at TradeSmith, we track the 13F securities filings with the SEC from these and many more wealthy and popular investors, in order to get insights into what they are buying and what they’re selling.

For example, just a few weeks ago, Warren Buffett, who we saw there in charge of the buffet, revealed a brand new stake in United Healthcare Group (UNH).

In fact, despite that vote of confidence, United Healthcare has dropped about 40% this year, and that’s mainly due to concerns over potential changes to Medicare reimbursement rates.

Buffett, of course, is an old school value investor, and so he took advantage by scooping up 5 million shares of UNH stock worth around $1.5 billion, so a pretty big position.

And, Marina, the stock actually surged 12% higher, the day that the news broke that he’d taken that stake. So that’s a good reason right there to pay attention to what the billionaires are doing.

Marina: Oh, is that still a good buy now?

Mike: Well, of course, we can’t, uh, I can’t tell you that exactly – because of course that’s personalized investment advice. It all depends on everyone’s own, you know, investment style or goals and their comfort with risk.

But I can tell you that based on my own analysis, UNH stock today is still around the same price that Buffett paid, and it may be even a little less. You know, he built a stake during the first quarter of this year, when it was higher.

So, you know, if you – like Buffett – also think that United Healthcare is a bargain, uh, now is a good time to take a second look at it.

Marina: That’s right. Folks, you can easily keep track of these savvy investors yourself with our popular TradeSmith Billionaires Club tools, and I’m already here on the site, so everyone can check it out.

Let me go back to “Invest.” And you’ll notice the Billionaires Club is now situated there.

So, simply log into your TradeSmith Finance account. And you can come here and join me and take a spin on there as well and get all the details that we want.

So, we have, I don’t even know how many there are now, Mike, like 40 or something like that?

Mike: I believe 40 or 41. You know, we change them every once in a while, depending on their results… You know, the results obviously over time would change, but, you know, Warren Buffett’s an icon.

He’s been in there since day one, and I’m sure he always will be. Even though he’s getting ready to retire at the end of this year, Marina, he’s got some pretty smart people working for him.

Marina: That’s right. Well, I have it all set up for you on Warren Buffett.

Mike: OK. So, with the Billionaires Club, basically, you can select pretty much any of the 40-some-odd billionaires that we track and you can see their current portfolio distribution. So, we can… we have Warren Buffett up here, might as well take a look.

You can see that, you know, about 50% of the stocks he owns are rated Strong Bullish by us here at TradeSmith, another 24% are Bullish… 19% are actually Bearish, which is interesting, but remember: Warren tends to be a value investor. So, sometimes he’s buying stocks that are out of favor.

And you can also look at the distribution by the Health Grade and the overall asset allocation, what markets they’re in, or the risk level. We really break down the data for you, so you can see everything, even the risk, the Volatility Quotient (VQ%), which is the far right tab.

That is something I always take a look at. You can see here, 83% of the portfolio is kind of right in the middle of the road, with medium risk, and another 9% is low risk.

So, you know, Warren tends to be, you know, a risk-averse type of value investor – and it shows in his portfolio.

Now, there are other data points we can get to just simply by scrolling down.

I should say too, if you don’t happen to see this dashboard on your own TradeSmith platform when you log in, but you’d like to dig into this valuable data, all you have to do is call our Customer Care team at 1-888-623-0858.

And we’ll share that number again later on.

But just contact our Customer Care team and they could set you up with the Billionaire portfolio if you don’t already have it.

Marina: That’s right. And we can see here that they also have these other widgets here, the best performing recommendations, recent events, and so on.

Here at the bottom is where we can see all the good stuff, huh?

Mike: Yeah, it’s interesting. About 75% of Buffett’s portfolio is actually invested in Green Zone stocks. You know, that’s stocks we recommend that are healthy.

So that’s, you know, good – obviously a vote of confidence in both Warren Buffett’s savviness as an investor as well as our own tools.

And through the Billionaires Club dashboard, you can view all the best performing stocks which you saw there just a minute ago. Just scrolling down a little bit, this is the top 10 stocks that have performed the best… and then on the right, you’ve got recent events.

This is anything that’s happened recently with changes to the billionaires’ holdings.

And then, as you scroll down further, you can see all the current open positions.

And it’s interesting if you, yes, if you click there you can look at his current positions, you can look at closed positions, all positions – so you can really slice and dice the data any way you want to.

Marina: That’s pretty cool.

Mike: Yeah, and one addition that I’m really, really excited about, Marina, and I know you feel this way too: Our software wizards, they recently added new interactive screener filters to our TradeSmith Screener to make it easier than ever to actually keep track of what individual billionaires are doing with their money.

Any changes that they make to their stock holdings, for example… and we should take a closer look at that, because it’s a really exciting addition.

Marina: Yeah, absolutely. So, I’m just gonna scroll back right here to the top… We’re already on the “Invest” page, so to access the Screener, we just need to click on the “Screener” tab in that sub menu.

Right. OK, so now you can walk me through how we’re gonna set this up, Mike.

Mike: OK, so what we can do here is… let’s go ahead and set up a quick and easy screener, so we can walk all of our folks here on the call today through exactly how to find stock holdings for one or more of our billionaire investors.

So, to do this in the screener, basically I normally just use 3 simple filters, starting with the Quantum Score you’ll find under TradeSmith Proprietary – yeah, the Quantum Score. Under “TradeSmith Proprietary Metrics.” That’s right.

And then in the same list we want the Billionaires Club, we want to look… We want to add the Billionaire’s Name and also the Holding Status filters. Cool.

And you can also add whatever other filters you may want to add. I mean, if you’re looking for valuation, for example, you may want to look at stocks that are at a certain P/E ratio or price to book, or some revenue size. You can always add that.

You could add our other proprietary filters, like the Business Quality Score or, uh,

seasonality, for example. But just to keep it simple, we’ll use these three filters and we’ll look at a kind of a select list, I like to call it, of billionaires.

Now, you know, these guys are not always on my guest list for Thanksgiving, Marina. But these are some gentlemen that I’ve followed over the years, kind of some of my own personal favorite billionaires. And so, we can click, uh, on the “Billionaire Name” filter and select them one at a time.

You see the whole list is here. And the first is Bill Ackman. He was in your cartoon a minute ago and then, uh, Dan Loeb is another one.

David Einhorn, who was on the far left of your cartoon with his wasabi, uh, getting added to the suit, and yeah, David Tepper just below him. Jeffrey Ullman, uh, John Paulson…

Marina: Got him.

Mike: And then a lot of folks haven’t heard of Seth Klarman. He’s a value investor very much in the tradition of Warren Buffett. And in fact, he wrote a book about it that’s out of print now, unfortunately, but it’s rare and hard to find.

He has an excellent track record. And I also follow, uh, Steven Mandel and any changes to his portfolio.

And then of course, last but certainly not least, would be Warren Buffett.

Marina: Fantastic.

Mike: OK, so, of course, you can track all of them if you want to, or you can eliminate some, or focus just on one. That’s the great thing about this screener filter and how it works.

But the filters now really zero in on any new stocks that were recently purchased by these guys, and we get there from looking at the “Billionaire Holding Status” filter.

Now here you can actually look by whether a billionaire has increased their holdings or decreased their holdings or bought any brand-new holdings – like Warren Buffett’s United Healthcare purchase.

And then finally there’s a filter for Sold Out holdings, which is important too, because you may want to know if one of your favorite billionaires has completely, you know, jettisoned his position, and sold out of the entire stock.

You know, you may see that as a vote of no confidence, so it’s helpful to know that information.

Marina: OK, so we’re going with new holdings, right?

Mike: Yeah, we can look at new holdings and, of course, all those billionaires we’ve got in there. And, you know, we can also add a little something extra.

This is where you mix the traditional filters with some of our own proprietary TradeSmith filters. And I think one of our best is my friend and colleague Jason Bodner’s Quantum Score, which he came up with.

Marina: So why the Quantum Score, Mike?

Mike: Well, that’s a good question. From the first two filters, we already know that quite a few successful billionaires have recently purchased some of these stocks. But Jason’s Quantum Score, that can also tell you if other big-money investors, big institutions, or, you know, insiders, hedge funds, mutual funds and the like, if they’re also following suit and buying some of the same stocks in a large quantity.

So, Jason’s Quantum Score specifically tells you where that big money is flowing, either into or out of these stocks. And recently, Jason made some improvements by rescaling the scores for his Quantum Score to make them even easier to interpret and follow.

Marina: Yeah, that’s right, Mike. Quantum Scores now follow a 0 to 100 scale, with 100 being the best buys with the strongest big money flows. So, it’s just like getting a 100 mark on your test grade, right? An A plus?

Mike: Yeah, that’s right. And, you know, I bet you collected a lot of A pluses when you were in school. I’m sure you did.

I’m sure Jason did, too. He’s a very smart guy!

So back to my screener here, this filter is under the “Quantum Edge Scores” category, let’s go ahead and add the filter for Quantum Score and let’s set it to more than 80.

Marina: OK, you got it.

Mike: So this, the 80% or greater Quantum Score, it’ll limit our search here to just the top 20% of all stocks that we track and that Jason tracks, sorted according to the Quantum Score.

So, Marina, let’s go ahead and run this screen and let’s see what we come up with.

Marina: Let’s see what we get!

Mike: Now, just to give you the layout of the land… Here, you can click in the column labeled “Billionaires.” You click on those highlighted numbers and it’ll tell you all of the individual billionaire investors that own this particular stock or made changes.

You could see that, uh, Nvidia (NVDA), which is a popular stock these days, has had a lot of action recently. A lot of people are adding, a few are actually decreasing their positions.

So, you know, that’s always good to know. And there’s several new holdings, including near the top there, George Soros just took a new position and so did Dan Lowe, he took a new position in the stock too.

It’s helpful to know where the big money is moving, and in this case, we have, you know, several billionaires that are all pretty keen on Nvidia.

Now, if you look at some of the other columns – and of course, you know, you can arrange these columns any way you like, Marina, and you can add, you know,

new ones if you’d like, new filters or whatnot.

But you notice that also Nvidia has a very, very high Quantum Score on this list at 94.3. That’s right up there: Remember, 100 is the best you can get.

So, this isn’t far off that mark.

And in fact, a lot of these are pretty high. You see Broadcom’s at 92, Cadence Design at 91… So, you know, these are impressive scores.

Now this tells me not only do we have these billionaires that are active in the stock, but we’ve also got other big money investors moving money into it. Exactly.

Let’s go ahead and click 2 on Uber. I’m kind of curious there on the number 11– billionaires and Uber. It’s the 3rd one down.

Marina: Oh, Uber, got it.

Mike: And let’s see what they’ve been up to here.

Now, a few people have been decreasing their positions. Bill Ackman though, of course, at Pershing Square just took a new holding in there.

You know, it’s interesting. We’ve got several people increasing, quite a few decreasing their positions, and then Bill Ackman being a contrarian, he’s taking a new position on it. So, you know, this can be very revealing to mix and match and look at what different people are coming in and out of over time.

Marina: Yeah, exactly.

Mike: I was going to say also, Marina, with the screener, you get a select list of stocks that were recently purchased from some of the world’s most successful investors.

At the same time, these are stocks that have the big money inflows according to Jason’s Quantum Score. So that’s a winning combination in my book.

You can set up the screener and revisit it periodically because new 13F filings come out quarterly, where you can keep tabs on new positions or increases or decreases by the billionaires.

Marina: Wonderful. So, to sum it up, keeping a watchful eye on what stocks billionaire investors are buying or selling can give us insights and potentially lucrative new investment ideas. And I love using the screener tool because it’s a great starting point. You can also combine billionaire holdings with any of our other proprietary metrics, right, Mike?

Mike: That’s exactly right, Marina. You can include the Quantum Score, which we did here in this example. You could add the business score if you’re interested in only quality stocks that are, let’s say, above 80 with a BQS or even 90. You could pair it with our Predictive Alpha, expected move. That shows you the prime outlook, or stocks that have a high likelihood of moving up in value over the short term, maybe the next 20 days or so.

You can add seasonality in there too, with the Trade Cycles by TradeSmith, and look for traditional cycle periods – bullish periods – or even search for optimal seasonal patterns.

That way, you can see what stocks the billionaires own that may also be entering a seasonal up or down period. There’s lots you can do to mix and match and make the screener your own.

Marina: Right, I think Trade Cycles and seasonality would definitely be a great place to hone in on potential entries.

Mike: Yeah, you know, we should maybe try that. Well, we only have 14 results.

Marina: Yeah, I’m not sure. We could try and see what we get.

Mike: It might limit the results, but let’s give it a shot and go for the optimal seasonal patterns to see if there are any coming up.

Marina: OK, let me run the screener. Oh, we got eight results.

Mike: All right, that’s good. And Nvidia is one of them.

Marina: Nvidia is one of them. Let me see… I didn’t include it here. I’m just opening up the default view and then looking for seasonality patterns. There it is on the left-hand side. This will be a good example just to show folks how to move the columns anyway.

So, I left-click and hold my mouse key, then drag it. You see it’s like a little ghost icon—there’s a little ghost. There we go.

Mike: Yeah, you can drag and drop wherever you want on the page and rearrange your columns to your heart’s content.

So, with Nvidia, there are two seasonal patterns. One isn’t coming up until January, but the other—look at that—October 24th to November 8th. Nvidia has historically posted an average return of 8%, and it’s been up during that period 100% of the time over the last 15 years, Marina. So that’s pretty good odds.

Yeah, maybe if you missed Nvidia earlier this year—and of course it’s run up a lot—it gives you a second chance to consider buying into it toward the end of October. So, keep an eye on it.

Marina: Yeah, absolutely.

All right, I think that concludes our practical application of the Billionaires club and the tool. So, are we ready, folks, to pick Mike’s brain? What do you think? Give me a thumbs up if you’re ready.

I got a thumbs up, two thumbs up.

Mike: All right, now the folks are gonna let me have it, right?

Marina: Trouble now.

Let me pull up the Q&A. Kristin’s got some questions started for us.

All right, so first question is from Tony, “Does the Billionaire Club show how much each billionaire is up for the year?”

You know, that’s a good question. We kind of passed over these upcoming portfolio performance windows. I think that’s what Tony is referring to.

Mike: Yeah, and our team is working on putting that together.

It’s a little difficult because there are so many moving parts with so many billionaire portfolios where they’re coming and going with positions.

So, they are working on putting that together. As you can see, it’s coming soon.

And I can’t wait till we actually get the performance graphs up there.

Marina: Oh, it would be great because I think it’s similar to what you see in the analyzed portfolio.

I believe it’ll be something similar to this where you can actually see its performance against any market like the S&P 500.

I’m not sure if you’re able to change the date ranges – like if you could do year-to-date or adjust that – but just being able to see its performance and compare it to the S&P 500 over time is fantastic.

Mike: Yeah, I can’t wait to see that myself. That’s a very worthy addition for our Billionaire Club.

Marina: Absolutely. Next question is from David, “I’d like to be able to assess the billionaires against each other and see which ones are the most successful. Any way to do this?”

Mike: Well, that’s kind of a related question to the last one. Once we have the portfolio performance up there for, let’s say Warren Buffett, I think we’re displaying right now, you could click to a different billionaire and see what the performances are based on that particular billionaire versus Warren Buffett, or compared to the S&P 500.

Marina: Right, exactly. I wonder if there’s a certain screener filter that they could also develop for that.

Mike: Yeah, they probably can. As a matter of fact, we’d have to talk to the team about that. Put something else on their to-do list, Marina.

Marina: Yeah, right?

Mike: As if they don’t have enough on their list, right?

Marina: We’ll tell them it was David’s idea.

Mike: That’s right. We are loyal members, so you better start working on it.

Marina: Exactly. Next question is from Beverly, “How do we know when the billionaires added, increased, or decreased their holdings?”

Mike: Well, that’s a good question.

The 13F filings are basically filed with the SEC on a quarterly basis. So, the best time to check is right around 45 days after the quarter end. That’s the deadline for these folks to come out.

So, like Berkshire Hathaway, for example, if they bought any new stocks above a certain size – I should point out, it has to be a large holding like the one for United Healthcare – then they have 45 days after the 30th of June in this case to make that filing.

So that puts you basically at August 15th, which is right around when the news broke that Buffett had taken a position in United Healthcare.

By the way, he wasn’t the only one. There were several billionaires that reported brand-new holdings, including David Tepper.

I mentioned another value investor. So that is usually a good window to check – about 45 days after the end of every calendar quarter. The first quarter ends in March, so you’d want to look right around mid-June.

The June quarter ends on the 30th, so you’d want to look right around the 15th of August, and so on.

Marina: Right, and then we also show at the bottom of the window, under that group column, if the ticker is a new holding, if they increased shares, or if there was no change.

So, you can look there as well.

Mike: Right, you just pull up the billionaire you’re focused on, and over on the far right, in the column labeled the advice note, it tells you what time period you’re looking at.

So, all these filings, which are Warren Buffett’s new holdings, were filed in the 2nd quarter of 2025.

And of course, that 13F would have come out within 45 days of the end of June.

Marina: Cool, yeah, and then for anyone wondering, the shares column also is to the very far right.

Next question is from Nancy, “Does TradeSmith offer portfolio sectors?”

I’m not sure what she means by portfolio sectors.

Mike: Yeah, of course we do break down stocks into sectors.

The easiest way to look at it is probably to go to Markets, and then you can actually hit the S&P 500 sectors. That takes you to all 11 of the major sectors – not the subsectors – but by clicking on Industrials, for example, you can see all the stocks in the Industrial sector, and you can also see what particular sub-industry they’re involved in. You can see all the holdings.

So that’s the easiest way to do it. Of course, you can do the same thing with our screener filters as well.

Marina: Yes, let me show them how to see the underlying components. If I just want to search for a ticker and I type in XLI, then I can go to the holdings tab there, and I should be able to see a list of tickers.

You can sort it by health and bring all the green zones to the top. So that’s kind of neat too. I like that feature.

Mike: Exactly, yeah, of course every sector shows up the same way. If you’re looking at Technology or Healthcare or Financials, you can do the same thing.

Marina: Right. So, Nancy, I’m not sure if we answered your question, but feel free to follow back up with us and we’ll go from there.

We used to have a sector selects strategy as part of Ideas, but it was not performing well, so we removed it.

Right, because we only want to provide you with the best tools, indicators, and strategies.

Mike: I know our team is working on a new ETF sector rotation, which is based on the different S&P sectors.

It gives you a way to take advantage of it with a specific ETF recommendation. So that’s a work in progress now too – stay tuned for more on that.

Marina: Yes, it might be a model portfolio, but for sure we’re working on it.

All right. And Nancy is asking, “How can I rebalance my portfolio?”

Mike: All right. Well, that’s always fun. That’s a good topic to get into.

Marina: For sure, right?

So, folks, if you want to rebalance your portfolio, just click on My Portfolios, go to Risk Rebalancer, and then select your investment portfolio.

You can see it pulls up your total value, which includes whatever cash there is.

You can, of course, adjust this, so if you don’t want to use any of your cash, you can uncheck it, or you can adjust that figure to whatever amount of cash you do want to use. And then you hit rebalance.

I like how it breaks it up into these three tabs because you can see in the first tab how rebalancing adjusts your overall portfolio volatility. This one dropped it down pretty good from 14.25% to over 1% down. That’s pretty good.

And then, of course, if you want to see your results, you can review your positions and how much you’re adjusting your shares.

Mike: Yeah, that’s right.

And that’s a handy tool to use for your own portfolio. The best way to do that is to make sure your portfolio is being tracked in the TradeSmith software, which is easy to do.

We can’t really get into that right now – that’s like a topic for another day – but once you sync your brokerage account portfolio with the platform, you can easily revisit your portfolio on a regular basis and rebalance it using this tool.

Don’t forget that as time goes by, every couple of months or quarter or so, volatility is going to change with the individual stocks in your portfolio based on what’s been happening to the stock over the last month or quarter.

You may not even realize it, but you could be taking more risk than you intend to, just because stocks in general got more volatile, or some of your holdings became a bit more volatile. So, it’s always good to revisit and rebalance on a regular basis.

I’d say at least quarterly, but that’s up to each individual.

Marina: Right. OK.

Scott is asking, “Pure quant is some type of rebalancer, isn’t it? What’s that?”

You know, Scott, thank you so much for asking that question because I have a TradeSmith walkthrough on September 25th at 1 p.m., and I’m going to be talking about everything about Pure Quant. We’re going to build a Pure Quant, and we’re going to re-optimize an existing portfolio.

So yeah, it is kind of like the risk rebalancer, in the sense that when it’s building the portfolio, it takes into account your total available capital, the VQs, the latest close—so you’re risking the same percentage of your entire trading capital per trade. So yes, it has a similar function.

Mike: That’s a good shameless plug for your next webinar.

Marina: I know, right? I had to.

Mike: I’m ready to attend. Where do I sign up? Send me a link.

Marina: We didn’t even plan this, Scott.

Thank you, but please sign up so you can go to Support and then… there it is—TradeSmith Walkthrough Webinars. Just like with the Inside TradeSmith webinars, I post all of the registration links here.

So, there’s the inside registration previously, and I’ll post today’s webinar here tomorrow as well. But for the walkthroughs, you can also come here and register for that as well.

Next question is from Gail, “Does TradeSmith offer something similar to Billionaire’s Club except showing specific institutional investors instead of individual billionaires?”

Mike: Well, I think the closest thing we come to that is our Money Movers segment of the site, where you can look at what the big institutions – or some of the insiders, which is management and directors of the company – have been up to in terms of buying and selling stock.

So, the billionaires are included in some of the big institutional investors, but they’re also in there with every other institution we follow. You click on Institution, and here this just shows you some of the top individual signals that have, in this case, the high Money Movers score.

And you can see the one you just clicked on: Cliff Asness of AQR Capital is one of the bigger institutional investors, and they just moved into shares of ACNB.

This is basically sorted by the top Money Mover scores. With Money Movers, the higher the better. So, the scores range from -100 to 100, with 100 being the highest. Basically, you’re looking for money moving in from 0 to 100 and money moving out from 0 to -100.

Marina: And this one has the highest—it looks like moving up, though not sure what this one is.

But if we want to see if there’s any billionaires, I can go to opportunities – and there’s Joseph Edelman.

Mike: And that’s just for that particular stock, CELC. I’m not familiar with that one either, but might want to check it out since Joe Edelman likes it.

Marina: Maybe! You never know.

All right, next question is from Allen.

“Given what you said about the filings, these big dogs are market movers, and by the time we hear about those moves, it seems to be too late for us. Am I missing something about the screener? I’m very new to this.”

Mike: Well, that’s a great observation, and yeah, the data is rather stale, but we know that certain billionaires like Warren Buffett is a great example.

Buffett has said in his past, you know, annual letters to shareholders that his favorite holding period is forever, right?

And several of his largest stock holdings, including Coca-Cola and American Express, he literally has held forever.

He started buying Coke back in the 1980s, I believe. And it’s still one of his largest positions.

More recently, he took a big stake in Apple, and he’s been selling off some of his Apple shares more recently, but he still owns this sizable stake as his number one holding, his Apple for the last, you know, eight or 10 years.

And so some of these billionaires don’t move in and out of stocks rapidly. They’re more long-term investors with a long view, like Warren Buffett takes.

So, for example, you can bet that if he’s moving into United Healthcare, it’s probably not for a trade. It’s probably for a long-term investment because he sees it as undervalued.

In fact, Marina, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we don’t see Buffett increasing his stake in United Healthcare over the next several quarters.

So, all the information is a little bit stale by the time it gets to the public, it’s still pretty useful to know, you know, what these folks are up to.

Marina: Let’s see at the next Inside webinar if he increases his holding.

Mike:What do you want to bet he’ll be out of the whole thing? He just traded his stock. He just traded the stock.

I’m sure it’s gonna be a longer-term holding.

I wouldn’t be surprised, as a matter of fact, that his average price in United Healthcare is higher based on how far it came down after the first quarter of the year.

And in that case, I wouldn’t be surprised, Marina, if he didn’t double his stake in it – by another, you know, 1.5 million shares or so between now and next time we see a file.

Marina: All right, we’ll see. You folks heard it. We’re starting to take bets now.

Mike: That’s right. It’s my fearless forecast right there.

Marina: All right. Benjamin: “Brokerage account, do I need to refresh TradeSmith or does it do it automatically?”

So, Benjamin, and anyone that is having issues with refreshing their portfolio real quick, how often are you logging into your site?

You want to make sure that you’re logging into your site at least once a week, so you don’t lose the link between the broker.

This is a synchronized test account. You can see it says “S” for synchronized.

It should show either today’s date or the previous date.

If you see that it’s lagging too far behind, you may need to refresh the link.

So to kickstart it, you hit this little green circle arrow. And then pops up this window. It’s already set to “refresh portfolio.” All you gotta do is hit “synchronize”, and that should get it going.

You’ll hit continue to run through the prompts, and that is like the first kind of troubleshooting technique that you can do.

To get back on track, if you continue to run into further issues, it might be better to just call in and get some assistance that way for the next steps.

All right. Next question from Karen. “So, Money Movers aren’t necessarily about the stocks, but about the buyers?”

Mike: Well, the Money Movers, if we want to go back to that screen, we can walk through it. We covered most of it, but there are a few other features we can look at.

Money Movers basically covers all the stocks that we track, and we even covered the sectors you see in the top left here, you can see the money mover scores by sector.

And as you can see here, the consumer defense seems to have you know, an edge on some of the other sectors.

You see the green part of the bar means there’s money moving in.

So 38% of the stocks in the sector have got money inflows, and then the red part of the bar shows you how much is flowing out – you know, out of it.

And you know what I could see just from eyeballing it is the technology sector looks interesting.

It’s still right there that there’s a lot of money moving out of the technology sector.

Of course, you know, we’ve had a lot of big gains in tech stocks this year, so maybe some folks are taking profits here as we get towards year end.

And then we already looked at the top Money Movers to the right, you can sort this by money moving up or down by clicking on that tab. And you could see the top stocks that money is coming out of TJ Maxx, one of your favorite retailers, Marina.

Marina: My favorite.

Mike: And then, you know, they’re selling that one now.

And then, yeah, scrolling down, here’s the individual signals again, money moving up or in from insiders.

It’s just particularly insiders – you know, directors, the management of the company is buying the stock.

And then we can also look at institutional investors as well, and this includes the billionaires.

So by clicking on any of these links in the billionaire column, you could see which billionaires are moving into the stock – or out of the stock, in this case.

And then, as we go over with the tabs here, you can look at money moving down. So, money moving out of a particular stock.

Marina: Oh, I’m not understanding this because I saw this it’s moving down but it says Cliff has increased.

Mike: Yeah, he’s increased his position.

We saw that other billionaire holder was getting out of it, but overall the balance of money coming in, the balance of money coming into this particular stock is positive.

Marina: I see.

Mike: So, it’s negative depending on which tab.

And then you can, for option traders, you can also look at the unusual activity tab, and this is interesting because often this shows unusual activity in the options of these underlying stocks.

So, you can see here in the top row that there was some significant volume in options for ACAD recently.

That is the volume of call or put options as a share of the open interest in the particular stock. That’s how you measure unusual activity.

And so, you know, big option trading activity can sometimes give you a tip off of some maybe good or bad news about to come out of a particular stock.

And then the final tab, of course, shows you the insider activity in more detail.

And this shows you a particular stock. This is Texas Pacific Land, and you could see that several insiders have actually been, is this purchases, I believe, recently?

Marina: This one’s all buys, yes, so we can do all by 52-week high, low, or S&P 500 companies.

Mike: Right.

So you can scroll down and see the various stocks that have insiders buying and selling, and you could do the same thing for institutions as well.

Marina: This is what I call the rabbit hole because you can get lost in all of this, there’s so much information.

There’s Blackstone.

Mike: Yeah, they bought a lot, $30 million worth of their own stock recently, so that’s interesting.

Marina: Yeah, I wonder if we can sort…

Mike: Yeah, by any of these columns, the total transaction amount, so you can see Blackstone is number one here.

And, also you can sort by the number of shares, total transaction volume is probably more meaningful, no?

Marina: Total transaction number?

Mike: Yeah, that shows you the total amount of money moving into or out of the stock.

Marina: Wow. All right.

Mike: So that’s kind of a quick tutorial on money moves, which is similar to Billionaires in that it also includes the billionaires, as you saw there, but it also includes all the other big institutions as well as insiders.

Marina: Right. All right, Karen, hopefully that answers your question.

Laurel asks, “Will TradeSmith portfolio import include corporate bonds soon?”

I don’t think so.

Mike: That’s a question for the development team. Why not corporate bonds?

Marina: Yeah, I don’t believe so. I think this question has been bounced around for the past 10 years since I’ve been here.

Mike: Yeah, corporate bonds are kind of their own unique animal, they really are.

It’s the way they’re classified, which is very different than stocks, and a lot of bonds aren’t traded as actively as stocks are.

For example, take IBM, which I have up on my screen right now; that’s the only reason I thought that.

IBM stock, you can find a quote anywhere in the newspaper or on Yahoo Finance or, of course, you can find much more detailed information here in TradeSmith Finance.

But if you try to get a quote on an IBM bond, then you probably have to call your broker. You can’t just pull it up anywhere.

So, as I said, the bond market is very unique, and because of that, it’s difficult to get access to reliable, fresh daily information about what’s going on in the bond world.

That’s probably why, you know, we don’t include the sinking as of yet.

Marina: Right, but we can look into it.

Mike: I’ll put that in your suggestion box.

Marina: Yes, I’ll put a pin in that one.

Okay. Kristin, can you get Laurel’s email for me? That way I can follow back up regarding corporate bonds.

Kristin: Yeah, definitely.

Marina: Thank you, ma’am.

Next question is from Laura. “Is the Billionaires Club another service?”

Well, they, I don’t know, they’re not selling it separately.

I don’t know who all has access to the Billionaires Club… TradeSmith Platinum, of course, has access to it. It is a part of TradeStops, the higher levels of TradeStops, I believe Trade 360, and I’m not sure if the higher levels of Ideas have it.

Mike: Yeah, if you don’t necessarily see it on your platform though, you can always call our Customer Care folks and discuss it with them, you know, see how you can get access to it. They could set you up very easily on that.

Marina: Right. So, it is dependent on your subscription.

All right.

Scott: “Did you say what time frame does the Money Mover’s graph represent like this week, this month, etc.?”

Mike: It’s kind of a cumulative score, you know, as I understand it.

So it, it’s just based on whenever new information comes in with regards to, you know, money moving in.

Whenever there’s basically new filings with the SEC, for example, from insiders as well as from you know, our billionaires and other corporate investors, they all have to file with the SEC when they increase or decrease positions.

Marina: Right, and these are the indicators that we’re looking at specifically.

And you can find those below individually like the On-Balance Volume, Smart Money Index, and Money Flow Index.

Mike: Right, those are the individual components that add up to the headline money mover’s score.

Mhm. All right. Thank you, Scott.

Next question from Gail: “How recent is the data for unusual options activity?

Is that more frequent than quarterly?”

That’s a good question.

It’s definitely more frequent because, you know, the quarterly filings that you don’t really have to file for just, you know, options.

This is our own proprietary measure where our system, our TradeSmith system scans.

You know, the market says we do a lot with options, with our Options360 platform as a matter of fact, and of course Constant Cash Flow, which I do.

And so we’re constantly looking at looking for unusual volume as a share of the open interest in a particular option contract, and our system just flags particular stocks whenever they come up.

Marina: Right.

So changes pretty rapidly. I’d say on a daily basis.

Right, I would imagine it would have to update.

Mike: We should show them also, Marina, by clicking on “View More” at the upper right, I often forget this myself, but you can get much more detailed information on almost any TradeSmith screen by just clicking on “View More”.

So here this is unusual option activity stocks, and there’s 250 tickers here.

And I believe they’re just sorted alphabetically. Yeah, they’re sorted alphabetically here, but you could sort them by Health or by risk or rating or, or what have you, by any means you want to sort them.

Marina: Right. Oh, and it tells us here in this basket when it was last updated.

Mike: So, this was updated today at what time? One, just after one o’clock Eastern Time.

Marina: So this is updating intraday, it looks like.

Mike: Yeah.

Marina: That is cool.

Mike: Much more frequent than the 13F filings that are every three months with the SEC.

I swear, I don’t know why the SEC would still have archaic rules like that where you only have to file once a quarter and with a 45-day delay.

I mean, we’re here in the information age, you know, the AI age. You should have to file it as soon as you buy the stock.

Marina: Yes, that would be nice.

Mike: Or within a reasonable time after you make the purchase, I would say.

Marina: Exactly.

Well, that looks like it’s a wrap.

I don’t have any other questions.
