Lake Area Corn Processors, LLC, through its subsidiary, Dakota Ethanol, L.L.C., owns and manages an ethanol plant in South Dakota. It produces and distributes fuel grade ethanol for use as an octane enhancer in fuels, an oxygenated fuel additive for reducing ozone and carbon monoxide vehicle emissions, and a non-petroleum-based gasoline substitute. The company also provides co-products of the ethanol, such as distiller grains, which are used as animal feed supplement for the dairy, poultry, swine, and beef industries; and corn oil that is used as animal feed, as well as for industrial use and biodiesel production.
